Our Pre-Kindergarten class is three hours long from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Due to the academic nature of the class children must enroll five mornings a week. This program will help prepare your child for success in school - and in life. New research on the brain and on learning shows how important the early years are in a child's learning and development. We want our Pre-Kindergartners ready to go out into the world and be confident and curious learners who work well with others. Through the activities we plan and the way we organize the classroom we seek to accomplish these goals. Our pre-kindergarten will have an experienced, certified teacher with them that can work individually with each child throughout the morning hours and help develop their academic skills as well as their social skills.
The classroom is run on a structured schedule and includes a circle time/academic lesson, special project related to the lesson, center time, free play time, music and movement, story time and inside or outside large motor play depending on the weather.
Math and language art skills are the main focus of our curriculum. The children will build these skills through various group and individual lessons as well as through hands-on manipulatives, materials and games.
Social skills are an important part of our curriculum. Children learn group dynamics, sharing, team work and communication skills through playing and interacting with their friends and teachers.
We want our Pre-K children to develop their creative thinking skills. Many of our group lessons and activities actively involve children in problem solving and cognitive thinking.
To increase our student's small motor skills and create better writers our centers include drawing, painting, clay, cutting etc. The teacher also works individually with each child based on their level of development.
Indoor and outdoor large motor activities that include team work games and music and movement are included in every day's activities.
The Pre-Kindergarten class will also have a time to learn Christian bible stories and some fun Christian songs and fingerplays. Each year the children will take part in a fun and exciting Christmas pageant that the entire family will want to attend. The Pre-Kindergarten class will also take part in a graduation ceremony at the end of the year.
